October Neighbor Corner
As we head into the fall, several local partners are offering free health services and utility support to help keep our neighbors well and warm this season.
Columbus Public Health is holding a free flu clinic on October 19 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Vaccines are available for ages 6 months and older at no cost to you. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is needed. If you have insurance, please bring your card with you.
Students from Ohio State’s Nursing and Pharmacy programs will also be offering free blood sugar and blood pressure checks on November 4, November 12, and December 2. No appointment or insurance is required.
If you are worried about winter utility bills, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) Special Reconnect Order is in effect from October 12, 2026 through April 16, 2027. Regardless of income, residential customers of PUCO-regulated utilities can pay a maximum of $175 plus a small reconnection fee to restore or maintain electric and gas service. To use this assistance, reach out directly to your utility provider to make the payment and set up a plan for any remaining balance.
