What Comes Next
Hunger Action Month brought people into the Pantry to see our work firsthand and take part in helping our neighbors. From our Brown Bag Lunch to the Big Table discussion, people learned more about the need for food and how they can help. We also took time to thank the volunteers and supporters who make this work possible.
Throughout September, that work continued at a busy pace. We welcomed 3,489 families and served 15,130 people, including 5,895 children and 1,610 seniors.
We are already seeing how changes to benefit programs are affecting the way neighbors use the Pantry. While we have seen only a small increase in new neighbors, our service numbers are up around 20 percent. Much of that increase comes from neighbors visiting more often to make ends meet. People who already rely on the Pantry are needing more help to keep food on the table.
As we head into the holiday season, we need your support more than ever. Neighbors will continue to count on us for their everyday groceries while also trying to make room in their budgets for holiday meals. We need to keep our shelves stocked and be ready to meet that need.
A financial gift helps us purchase food and respond as needs change. Donating food or organizing a food drive helps keep our shelves filled with items neighbors can bring home. Volunteering your time helps get that food onto our shelves and into our neighbors’ hands.
Thank you to everyone who took part in Hunger Action Month. Your involvement matters, and your continued support will help us keep food available for our neighbors in the months ahead.
