The Worthington Resource Pantry is an equal opportunity employer. Employment decisions are not based on age, sex, color, race, national origin, religious persuasion, veteran’s status, marital status, sexual orientation, a disability that does not prohibit performance of essential job functions, or any other status protected by applicable law.
At the Worthington Resource Pantry, we believe in more than just filling plates; we believe in feeding our community by connecting neighbors to healthy food, resources, and each other. With nearly 35,000 visits annually through our choice pantry, pop-up markets, and delivery programs, we are a high-impact hub of support in Central Ohio.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Director of Operations to lead the "engine" of our organization. You will oversee the complex systems that ensure our neighbors have reliable access to healthy food in a welcoming, dignified environment. This isn’t just about logistics; it’s about stewarding an $800,000 annual budget and $2 million in in-kind resources to maximize our community impact.
What You’ll Do
As a key member of our leadership team, you will partner closely with the Executive Director, the Director of Development, and the Communications Director to ensure our operations are seamless and our message is consistent.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement operational strategies and goals aligned with our growth plans.
Inventory & Logistics: Oversee the sourcing and flow of food, including coordinating 35+ weekly food rescue pickups and maintenance of our 16-foot box truck.
Food Supply Management: Lead the intake of community food drives and manage relationships with retail partners and food banks.
Team Leadership: Supervise the Operations Manager and the Volunteer & Programs Manager while supporting a robust network of approximately 500 annual volunteers.
Compliance & Safety: Maintain best practices for warehouse organization, product flow, and food safety.
What You Bring
Experience: A Bachelor’s degree and a proven track record in operations, logistics, or program management (nonprofit, grocery, or warehouse environments are a plus).
Leadership Style: A collaborative, mission-driven approach with the ability to coach staff and lead diverse teams with maturity and a positive attitude.
Technical & Physical Savvy: Proficiency with computer systems/databases and the physical ability to stand for long periods and lift 35 pounds repetitiously.
Commitment: A deep-seated belief in serving neighbors with dignity and respect.
Flexibility: A valid driver’s license and the willingness to work one weekend shift and 2-3 evenings per month to support our community.
Why Join Us?
You will be joining a collaborative team that values innovation and community connection. This is a role where your systems-thinking directly results in a neighbor having a healthy meal on their table.
