Summer Stock Up
Summer brings vacations, cookouts, and longer days. But for thousands of families in our community, it also brings an added challenge: keeping enough healthy food on the table while school is out.
During the school year, many children rely on breakfast and lunch at school. When summer arrives, those meals disappear, leaving families to stretch already tight grocery budgets. At the same time, food donations often slow as many of us are traveling, making this one of the Pantry's most challenging seasons.
Last month, the Pantry served 3,456 households and 14,681 neighbors. More than 6 in 10 of those households included children, and we provided healthy food for 5,741 kids. In fact, more than 82% of the neighbors we served were part of households with minor children. These numbers remind us that summer hunger is often family hunger.
That's why we're asking our community to help fill our shelves during Summer Stock Up. Our most needed items are peanut butter, cereal, tuna, diapers, and personal care items. These are the foods and essentials families request most, and they help parents provide nutritious meals and care for their children throughout the summer months.
Whether you donate one jar of peanut butter or host a neighborhood food drive, every gift helps ensure that local children and their families have access to healthy food all summer long.
Together, we can make sure no child has to wonder where their next meal will come from.
