Summer Hunger

Summer is a season of transition. Families are preparing for a new school year, children are getting ready for new routines, and many neighbors are balancing the extra costs that come with this time of year.

At the Worthington Resource Pantry, we know that support looks different for every neighbor who walks through our doors. Sometimes it’s a bag of groceries. Sometimes it’s personal care items that help a family feel comfortable and cared for. Sometimes it’s school supplies that help a child walk into the classroom ready to learn.

In July alone, the Pantry served 3,865 neighbors and provided 44,235 meals. That included 1,469 children, 1,965 adults, and 431 seniors who turned to the Pantry for support.

As we prepare for the months ahead, our Summer Stock Up campaign is focused on collecting personal care items and back-to-school supplies. These everyday essentials are an important part of helping our neighbors feel supported—not just with food, but with the items that help families thrive.
