HEAP can help
If your heating bills felt especially high this winter, you’re not alone. Many families across our community saw costs climb, stretching budgets that were already tight. The good news is there’s still time to get help.
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is designed to help households cover the cost of heating during the winter months. If your household income is at or below 175% of the federal poverty level, you may qualify for a credit applied directly to your primary heating source.
HEAP provides support once per winter heating season and can make a meaningful difference, especially for families balancing rising costs for food, rent, and utilities. For many neighbors, this kind of assistance helps free up room in the budget for other essentials.
Applications are open now through May 31, 2026. If you think you might qualify, it’s worth taking a few minutes to apply. You can complete your application online through the Ohio Department of Development at energyhelp.ohio.gov.
If you need help applying or have questions about the process, please visit our Resource Center for help during our open Pantry hours.
Programs like HEAP are one way to stay on track after a long winter. If high utility costs have been weighing on your household, this is a simple step that could help ease the pressure.
