WORTHINGTON RESOURCE PANTRY VOLUNTEER FAQS
Q: How do I sign up to volunteer?
A: Complete WRP Online application for adults or for youth. Links are located on the WRP Volunteer Web page. If you do not have access to the internet, you may contact the WRP by phone and we will send you an application. Once we review your application, we will contact you about your areas of interest and how to schedule your volunteer time.
Q: Can I just show up or do I need to schedule in advance?
A: All assignments must be scheduled in advance on WhenToHelp.com to plan for staffing and materials needed. WhenToHelp accounts are given to new volunteers once they have completed a Volunteer Orientation.
Q: My organization would like to volunteer as a group, can that be arranged?
A: We welcome groups! Contact our Volunteer Manager at Volunteers@worthingtonresourcepantry.org to work out a volunteer opportunity and time.
Q: How old do you have to be to volunteer?
A: Youth must be between 14 – 17 years of age. The child and parent must complete and sign a WRP volunteer application. Children or youth under the age of 14 are not allowed to volunteer without approval of the Executive Director.
Q: May I bring my child with me when I volunteer?
A: Due to the limited space and safety concerns, adult volunteers are not permitted to bring their children or youth to the pantry during the adult volunteer’s shift without the prior approval of the Executive Director.
Q: What do I wear while I am volunteering?
A: If you are working with neighbors, we ask that you wear modest, comfortable casual clothes. Wear comfortable shoes as you may be on your feet most of the shift. If you are working in our warehouse area then no open-toed shoes (e.g. NO sandals, flip flops, or open-toed high heels) Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Because of the continuous lifting and repacking, we also recommend not wearing loose jewelry like rings, watches or necklaces. You may also want to wear layers - depending on the project you'll be assigned to, temperatures in the building vary.
Q: Where are you located?
A: Worthington Resource Pantry, 6700 Huntley Rd, Columbus, Ohio, The WRP is located near the northeast corner of Huntley and Schrock Roads.
Q: Is there parking?
A: Yes, however, parking is limited; we encourage you to carpool when possible. Please park only in the areas designated for volunteers.
Q: What will I be doing?
