Welcome to Walk Worthington! Walk Worthington is a program of the Worthington Resource Pantry. Our goal is to bring the community together and increase public health through walking!
For the past two years, we partnered with the Worthington Libraries to hold weekly healthcare talk-and-walks over the summer. The program, based on the Walk with a Doc model, brings in a local healthcare expert for a brief 15 minute talk, which is followed by a 1.5ish mile walk! Our group has grown over the past two years and we hope to see you join us next year! Check out our favorite walking routes here!
In addition, we have partnered with the Worthington Historical Society for two educational walks over the summer and also with a local yoga instructor, Kerrianne Wolf, who leads fantastic yoga walks. In 2016, we partnered with the Worthington Parks and Recreation Department for a training series to walk the Cap City Half Marathon; in 2017, we will not only replicate the training program, but we will build on our collaboration with the parks and rec department to host a series of neighborhood walks!
But wait, there's more! For our 2016 program, we received a federal grant from America Walks and the Every Body Walk! Collaborative (see more here) to do a fundraising-as-incentive model. For every mile logged by a participant, the Pantry got a dime! We had a goal of walking 10,000 miles but we ended up walking 13,000!!! Fantastic work!!!
